Kitante Hill School is a public, mixed, day school located in Kitante, in the city of Kampala, the capital and largest metropolitan area in Uganda. The school is located in Kampala’s Central Division, approximately 3 kilometres (1.9 miles), by road, north-east of the city’s central business district. Neighboring institutions include Kitante Primary School, a public elementary day school, the Uganda Museum and the British High Commission. The school can be accessed off Acacia Avenue (John Babiiha Avenue), on Kololo Hill or off Kira Road on Mulago Hill.
Kitante Hill School was established in 1960 to cater for the children of civil servants in the about-to-be independent Uganda. The initial enrolment of the school was 200 students and was limited to O-Level classes until 1986 when A-Level studies were introduced. Initially it was a boys’-only school; it became co-ed in 1981 when girls were admitted. However, owing to its strategic location, improvement in physical facilities among other factors; the enrolment has significantly improved to the current 1302 students. It has immense potential for further expansion in enrolment. The school is under the Ministry of Education and Sports.
